Various client and self initiated works

OVERVIEW       There is something beautifully honest about the personality and emotion conveyed in those initial strokes of a sketch that is often quite difficult to retain in a final drawing. For this reason, when telling a story, I enjoy allowing the illustrative process to unfold, moment by moment—in much the same way that a story does—without stressing too much over the details and mistakes made along the way.
The result is a visual that feels a bit more in line with the whimsical, messy, and unexpected nature of daily life than what is often conveyed through a more polished and meticulously crafted piece of final artwork.
In this collection of work I explore this lighter side of life while also pulling inspiration from many of the great newspaper comic artists that I enjoyed reading as a kid (and still do today).
